Mini Macaroni Buns

Today I am sharing a recipe of macroni. Let us see first what a macroni is.

Macaroni is dry pasta shaped like narrow tubes. Made with durum wheat, macaroni is commonly cut in short lengths; curved macaroni may be referred to as elbow macaroni. Some home machines can make macaroni shapes, but like most pasta, macaroni is usually made commercially by large-scale extrusion.

The curved shape is created by different speeds of extrusion on opposite sides of the pasta tube as it comes out of the machine.

Mini Macaroni Buns 😍😍

Ingredients

For The Crispy Bread Halves
6 mini brown bread burger buns
melted butter for brushing

For The Macaroni Stuffing
1 cup boiled macaroni
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum (red and yellow)
1/4 cup finely chopped broccoli
1 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 cup milk
1/4 cup grated processed cheese
2 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
salt to taste
1 tbsp tomato ketchup , optional

Method

For the crispy bread halves
1. Cut a mini burger bun halve into 2 halves and scoop out the centres to form a depression.

2. Repeat step 1 with the remaining 5 mini burger buns.

3. Brush all the bread halves with melted butter, place them on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 8 to 10 minutes or till the bread halves turn crisp. Keep aside.

For the macaroni stuffing

1. Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the garlic and saute on a medium flame for a few seconds.

2. Add the capsicum and broccoli and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.

3. Add the plain flour, mix well and cook on a medium flame for a few seconds.

4. Add the milk, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring continuously.

5. Add the cheese, chilli flakes, mixed herbs and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.

6. Add the macaroni, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.

7. Switch off the flame, add the tomato ketchup and mix well.

How to proceed

Fill each crispy bread halve immediately with a little macaroni stuffing and serve immediately.
