Green Pea Pattice
What is pea?
The pea is most commonly the small spherical seed or the seed-pod of the pod fruit Pisum sativum. Each pod contains several peas, which can be green or yellow. Pea pods are botanically fruit, since they contain seeds and develop from the ovary of a flower.

Green Pea Pattice
Ingredients
To Be Mixed Together Into A Green Pea Stuffing
1/2 cup coarsely crushed green peas
2 tbsp freshly grated coconut
1 tsp green chilli paste
1/2 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
To Be Mixed Together Into A Potato Mixture
2 cups boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes
3 tbsp arrowroot (paniphal) flour
salt to taste
Other Ingredients
arrowroot (paniphal) flour for rolling
oil for deep-frying
For Serving
tomato ketchup
green chutney
Method
1. Divide the potato mixture and the stuffing into 8 equal portions and keep aside.
2. Flatten a portion of the potato mixture into a 75 mm. (3") diameter circle and place a portion of the stuffing in the centre.
3. Bring together the edges in the centre to seal the stuffing and shape it into a 75 mm. (3") flat round pattice.
4. Roll the pattice in the arrowroot flour till it is evenly coated from both the sides.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to make 7 more pattice.
6. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai and deep-fry the pattice, a few at a time, on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
7. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
